Translation winners converse

What defines a good translation? How does translating fiction and non-fiction differ? How faithful to the original should a translator seek to be, and how much freedom and creativity can they allow themselves?

These are some of the questions which Geir Pollen and Tove Bakke, winners of the 2021 Bastian Prize and the Rosetta Prize respectively, will seek to answer with Margunn Vikingstad as moderator.

The Bastian Prize is awarded by the Norwegian Association of Literary Translators (NO) for outstanding translation of a work of literature, while the Rosetta Prize is given by the Norwegian Non-Fiction Writers and Translators Association (NNFO) for translating a non-fiction work.

In collaboration with the NO and the NNFO.

The event will be in Norwegian.
