Patrick Chamoiseau

Patrick Chamoiseau (f. 1953, Martinique) er ein franskspråkleg forfattar som har vore ein leiande figur i den litterære créolité-rørsla.

Etter å ha studert i Paris vende Chamoiseau tilbake til Martinique, der forfattarskapen hans ofte har blitt inspirert av kreolsk kultur. I 1989 ga han saman med to andre forfattarar ut Eloge de la créolité, som blei startpunktet for créolité-rørsla, ei feiring av mangfaldet og styrken i fransk-karibisk kultur.

I 1992 fekk romanen hans Texaco Prix Goncourt, Frankrike sin mest prestisjefulle litteraturpris.

Texaco blei også valgt ut av New York Times som “Notable Book of the Year”, og skildra i The Mail & Guardian som “the work of a genius.” Nærare tretti år seinare er han kjend som ein av samtida sine mest innovative og kraftfulle franskspråklege forfattarar.
