People who struggle: a conversation with Ingvild Rishøi

The writing of Ingvild Rishøi circles around the marginalised in society, people with financial problems, mental issues, people who end up on the slippery slope. With assurance and love for her fictitious characters Rishøi writes about people in crisis from a distinct class perspective.

Rishøi made her debut in 2007 with a critically acclaimed collection of short stories. In 2021 she published her first novel, Stargate: A Christmas Tale, about ten-year-old Ronja’s troubled childhood in poverty with an alcoholic single parent father. In 2022 she was awarded the Amalie Skram Prize for her fictional description of people from the dark side of society.

Rishøi meets the author Eivind Riise Hauge in a conversation about what it is like to write about those who struggle most of all, who the rest of us do not notice so much.

The event will be in Norwegian.
