Dust from a culture in dissolution

In the late 1970s, well-known French intellectuals like Roland Barthes, Jean-Paul Sartre and Simone de Beauvoir signed a letter in support of people tried for sexual relations with children below the age of consent.

Vanessa Springora was herself in such a relationship at the age of 14 with author Gabriel Matzneff, who was 35 years her senior. Publication of her explosive memoir Consent in France during 2020 prompted people to ask how it was liberating to have sex with a child, and with the consent of their parents?

Springora meets author Sandra Lillebø on stage in Bergen. Their conversation will be in French, with Norwegian translation by Christina Mediaas.
