Fatemeh Ekhtesari

Fatemeh Ekhtesari (b 1986, Iran) is a poet, author and activist resident in Lillehammer. She has a big following on social media, and has established herself as an important voice for many people, particularly women, both in and outside Iran. Ekhtesari writes in Farsi, and the first Norwegian translation of her poetry was published in October 2020 as Vi overlever ikke.

Such themes as religion, gender roles, sexuality, hypocrisy and freedom of expression recur in her writings, and she is regarded as a poetic renewer and a courageous voice in contemporary Farsi literature.
