Gain new experience, a festival pass and the opportunity to view the LitFestBergen from the inside!

As a volunteer at LitFestBergen, you’ll be helping to create an unforgettable festival experience for the audience, the authors and our partners. We need enterprising people who want to contribute during the festival week. You have many interesting roles to choose between, including audience or guest host. Each volunteer will undertake three shifts of between 3-5 hrs long, one of which will be as a stand in/runner.  

As thanks for your efforts, you’ll receive:

- a free festival pass

- a social gathering before and after the festival

- 10 % discount on books purchased at Boksalongen

Our volunteer roles: Please choose at least two roles that you are interested in.

Audience host

Are you able to share joy and good cheer? Would you prefer to listen to the authors conversations as part of the background to your work? Do you have a phone and are able to use the ticketco app on it?

As an audience host, you will welcome people at the entrance, check tickets, show people to their seats and answer their questions about facilities and the programme schedule. You’ll help to prepare the stage for events when necessary.

Guest/ artist host

Are you a good communicator, multilingual, familiar with Bergen and somebody who enjoys being a host? As a guest host, you will meet our guests at the airport, provide information and guide them to transport into central Bergen. You will also welcome guests in the festival reception at the hotel, issue accreditations, communicate information and answer questions.

Festival promoter

As part of this team, you’ll be hanging up posters, signs and so forth before the festival. You’ll hand out brochures and other advertising material. This job is largely done before the festivaland can be split up into short shifts.

We are also looking for volunteers that can distribute catalogues in Oslo, and flyers in Trondheim, Stavanger, Kristiansand, Tromsø, Copenhagen, Stockholm, Berlin and London.

Festival Office

Are you organized, service minded, detail oriented and able with technologies?

At the festival office, you will meet and greet the audience, the authors and the press, and provide them with general information about the festival's events.

You will also sell and issue tickets or help people to buy tickets through the digital platform ticketco.

Green Room Host

Are you a service-orientated person who is warm, friendly and enjoys creating a welcoming environment?

As a Green Room host, you will be giving information to the participants, assisting them in getting to their discussions on time and keeping the green room stocked and a warm atmosphere.

Stand in/ Runner: position for all volunteers.

Being available for a shift to give volunteers a short break to get food, running errands. Might have to take over volunteer shift for someone that is sick.

New Volunteer Position: Volunteer Coordinator

Are you a people-orientated person, dedicated to assisting the smooth running of the volunteer programme and the happiness of its volunteers?

We are looking for a volunteer coordinator to oversee the volunteer programme during the festival. Previous experience at LitfestBergen or other Bergen festivals would be preferred. If you are interested, please contact me directly at maxine@litfestbergen.no.

Mandatory Training Session:  As a way of helping you be comfortable in your role, there will be a mandatory training session for all volunteers a week before the festival. Date to be announced later on.  Cut-off date for signing up: January 10, 2024
