Looking for stardust in a haystack
Can stardust be separated from mere earthly soil? Jon Larsen was intrigued one morning in 2008 to find a small shining grain of sand on his newly washed garden table. Asking himself where this came from, he began a hunt for the cosmic dust – micrometeorites – when falls towards the Earth in large quantities every single day. Larsen learnt from leading scientists that it was impossible to distinguish such stardust from ordinary soil, but finally found a method – to the acclaim of the scientific community.
In conversation with Kari Slaatsveen, he talks about his own journey and that of the micrometeorites.
The event will be in Norwegian.
