Cross-generation conversation V: Sami history lesson (postponed)
Part of Norway’s history which attracts little attention is the way Sami children were forced to adopt Norwegian language, culture and mentality, and the deep scars that left on the children, their families and society. Both Leve blant reptiler, the new poetry collection from Mary Ailonieida Sombán Mari, and Lappjævel, the young adult novel by Kathrine Nedrejord, address this dark side of Norway’s past in different ways.
Sombán Mari and Nedrejord belong to different Sami generations. How do they find that this part of their people’s history is communicated today in Sami and Norwegian? They meet Tomm Kristiansen for a conversation on growing up as a Sami and what has changed in relations between Sami and Norwegians.
This event will be in Norwegian.
The event wil be streamed to YouTube.
