Steinar Opstad

Steinar Opstad (b 1971, Norway) is a poet, author and translator resident in Oslo. He has studied German language and literature, religious history and general comparative literature at the Universities of Bergen and Oslo.

His literary debut was in 1996 with the collection Tavler og bud, which won the Tarjei Vesaas First Book Prize. Opstad has subsequently published eight more poetry collections, with En varig lengsel (2019) as the latest. He has also published the essay collection Himmelretninger (2012). His translations of Lars Norén’s Fragment I and Fragment II appeared in 2017 and 2020.
