Mutabaruka

Mutabaruka (b 1952, Jamaica) was born Allen Hope. He is perhaps Jamaica’s most famous living poet. He is also a recording artist and host of The Cutting Edge, a talk show on Irie-FM. His collections of poetry include Outcry, Sun and Moon and The Book: First Poems. He emerged on the music scene in 1981 with the release of the single Every Time A Ear De Soun’. Check It, his first of many albums, was released by Alligator Records in 1983.
