Mujib Mehradad

Mujib Mehradad (Afghanistan) is a poet, playwright and translator. He is the author of poetry collections Gladiators Are Still Dying (2007) – winner of the Afghan Civil Society’s literature contest – The Fishes Have Fled Our Veins (2008), Audience (2009) and Soldiers (2014), and of the essay collection The Rain Passed. Mujib has translated Ginsberg, Plath, Langston Hughes, Mayakovsky, Tagore and others into Dari. He is a board member of the Kashane Nawesendagan (House of Authors) literary organisation and teaches Persian literature at Albironi University in Kapisa. He is also a board member of Afghanistan PEN. In 2014, Mujib was one of the participants in the IWP, one of the most prestigious cultural programmes in the USA. He has worked with Tolo TV, and has spent three years as a spokesperson for the Ministry of Education. He is now the editor in chief of hasht-e- subh, the largest daily newspaper in Afghanistan.
