Nature and me

In her powerful verse epic Ædnan, which won Sweden’s highly-regarded August prize this winter, Linnea Axelsson writes the history of the Sami people. This story is characterised not only by oppression and coercion, but also by a relationship with nature which differs from that in Scandinavia’s majority culture. How has the natural world formed Sami identity? And how can literature communicate the value of nature?
