Anne Gjelsvik

Anne Gjelsvik (b 1956, Norway) is professor of film studies in the department of art and media studies at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU).

She has researched popular cinema, with the emphasis on violence, ethics and gender roles, for a number of years and has written several books about film criticism and violence. Her latest publications are Hva er film (Universitetsforlaget, 2013) and Cinema Between Media (Edinburgh University Press, 2018).

Gjelsvik leads the Face of Terror research project, which is investigating the mediation of terrorism in the media and art with the emphasis on how the terrorist atrocity of 22 July 2011 in Norway is mediated in film and literature.
