CANCELLED - A Jewish Journey

Dana Vowinckel's debut novel is a story about Jewish identity in Germany, Israel and the USA. En verden i flyt (Misophonia, translated to Norwegian from German by Ute Neumann) is about fifteen-year-old Margarita. It is decided that Margarita will travel to Israel to visit her mother, who left the family when Margarita was a child. Mother and daughter embark on a road trip through the country - to Tel Aviv and Eilat, to the Dead Sea and the West Bank. The trip brings to life old conflicts and hurtful memories and a loneliness that the girl is unable to forget.

Vowinckel's debut novel was acclaimed by critics in Germany and has won several literary awards. At LitFestBergen, she will meet author and historian Fredrik Hagen to discuss the book and Jewish identity across generations and continents.

The conversation will be in English.
