Transiteatret-Bergen

Transiteatret-Bergen is a performing arts company consisting of artists and related professionals who, based on Tore Vagn Lid's texts, compositions and concepts, work with the development of a contemporary, critical and experimental theatre. A stated ambition is the expansion of theatre as a critical, reflexive experiential space in the interchange between stage and music and between art-based research and research-based art.
Since its inception, the company has presented its productions locally, nationally and internationally, often with several parallel performances in the repertoire. For this, the ensemble has received a number of awards and honours, and has been the subject of public debates, symposia and research projects.
A characteristic feature of the company's activities is a communicative radius of activity that extends beyond the stage work itself, and which interacts mutually and on a long-term basis with academic environments outside the theatre's core field. In 2008, Transiteatret was presented at the Salzburg Festival. The theatre collaborates with institutions such as Den Nationale Scene, BIT Teatergarasjen, Black Box Teater, Dramatikkens hus, The National Theatre and Bergen International Festival. Transiteatret-Bergen finances its activities with the help of the municipality of Bergen and Arts Council Norway, among others.
