The many lives of Shabana Rehman

From the time she entered the comedy stage in the early 2000s to her death in late December 2022, Shabana Rehman was an outspoken, amusing, controversial and often provocative figure in Norwegian public life. When she became critically ill in early 2022, she resumed working on a long planned book about her life. When she realised that she would not finish the book, she asked her friend, theatrical director and artist Morten Traavik, to finish the work. Less than a year after Rehman’s death the book was completed. How did the book turn out?

Morten Traavik, himself no stranger to resistance and controversy, has received both praise and criticism for the book. How can you complete an autobiography about someone other than yourself? What choices did he have to make?

Kjersti Løken Stavrum moderates the conversation about Shabana’s extraordinary life – who she was, what she wasn’t, and what she meant for Norway.

The event will be in Norwegian.
