The world's best climate stories
In spring 2023 Bergen International Literature Festival launched a writing competition in collaboration with the Bjerknes Centre for Climate Research at the University of Bergen and the Rafto Foundation. They asked young people worldwide to write a poem or a personal essay about the climate crisis. They received 553 entries from 119 countries, and this evening we will meet the two winners of the competition. How do young people experience the climate crisis? And how do they express that feeling in literature?
Meet the winners in conversation with the jury member and director of the ‘Climate Narratives’ project from Norway Kerim Nisancioglu, climate researcher Siri Veland. Introduction by festival director Teresa Grøtan.
The event is moderated by Kikki Flesche Kleiven.
