Without guilt

Abid Raja is a member of the Storting (parliament) and deputy leader of the Liberal Party. As minister of culture in Erna Solberg’s right-of-centre coalition government, he was not afraid to take a stand or to stick his head above the parapet, and was accused of being both domineering and blustering.

Until his book Min skyld (My guilt) appeared in the autumn of 2021, however, few people knew he had concealed aspects of himself for many years. He relates with brutal honesty how, during his early years, he had to hide pain and illness, bullying, violence and not least his love for the woman who later became his wife.

The book reveals a great energy, strong will and deep desire to change the course of his life, and how difficult it can be to break free even when you know that you must.

In conversation with professor Kristin Skare Orgeret from Oslo Metropolitan University.
