Kai Eide

Kai Eide (b 1949, Norway), is a former diplomat and politician.

He has worked for the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and he was Norway’s OSCE ambassador from 1998 to 2002, as well as the Norwegian ambassador to NATO from 2002 to 2006. Eide was appointed the United Nations Special Representative to Afghanistan and Head of the UNAMA in 2008, a position he held until 2010.

Eide has written the books De tusen dagene: Fredsmeklere på Balkan (with Thorvald Stoltenberg in 1996) and Høyt spill i Afghanistan (2010).
