Ole Jacob Madsen

Ole Jacob Madsen (b 1978, Norway) is educated as a psychologist and philosopher and serves as a professor in cultural and social psychology at the University of Oslo’s psychology department.

He has regularly written popular articles and essays and participated in the public debate where psychology interacts with major contemporary issues, such as the problems of young people, life mastery, psychologisation, cosmetic surgery, self-help, individualism, neo-liberalism, late capitalism, identity, and climate and the environment.

Madsen has published several books, such as Det er innover vi må gå (2014), Generasjon prestasjon – Hva er det som feiler oss? (2015) and Livsmestring på timeplanen (2020).
