Gisle Selnes

Gisle Selnes (b 1965, Norway) is a Bergen resident and professor of general comparative literature at the University of Bergen. He was previously employed in Latin America studies at the same place.

Selnes has published a number of essays and academic articles in Norwegian and foreign journals on literature and literary theory, radical philosophy and politics, history and cultural criticism. He has also translated literary and philosophical texts from Spanish and Italian. Selnes’ essay collection Det fjerde kontinentet. Essays om America og andre fremmede fenomener appeared in 2011, and was followed by his book Den store sangen. Kapitler av en bok om Bob Dylan in 2016. His latest publication is a translation of Trilce by César Vallejo (2018).
