Whose Stories Should We Tell?
In her novel The Havoc of Choice, author and festival director Wanjiru Koinange deals with the aftermath of Kenya’s colonial history. In her work to restore several libraries from the colonial era and in her efforts to establish a new literary festival in Kenya’s capital, Nairobi, she questions which stories we tell and who gets to tell them.
Koinange meets James Lamont, director of the Financial Times and former Africa and Middle East correspondent, to discuss historical power, who gets to define literary heritage, and what a library ought to contain.
The event will be held in English.
