Prosalong: Is Weapons’ Research Unethical?

In her book Krigens laboratorium [The Laboratory of War], chemist Unni Eikeseth writes about how the Norwegian arms industry recruits bright minds from Norwegian universities to develop new weapons. The domestic arms industry is doing well, and one company, Nammo, recently signed a major deal to sell weapons and ammunition to Ukraine. Is allowing oneself to be recruited to the weapons industry as a researcher a betrayal of research ethics? Or is this necessary and important, not least in light of the current global situation?

Eikeseth meets researcher Hege Cathrine Finholt for a conversation about ethics, research and exactly what is being researched in the Norwegian weapons industry.

In collaboration with the Norwegian Non-Fiction Writers and Translators Association (NFFO).

The event will be held in Norwegian.
