Palestine – History, Fleeing, Land

For many, the story of Palestine begins with the horrific news images of the last two years. But for Rima Iraki, it goes back much further – to a family history marked by loss, flight, and belonging. Iraki tells of her own family’s roots in Palestine and how major political events have shaped the generations that followed.

Iraki, alongside journalist and author Odd Karsten Tveit, will trace the long threads of Palestinian history – from the earliest conflicts, through the Nakba in 1948, to the current political situation and Norway’s recent recognition of Palestine as a state.

The conversation is moderated by Frode Bjerkestrand, journalist and former culture editor at Norwegian newspaper Bergens Tidende. Together, they uncover both the personal and historical narratives that shape our understanding of Palestine.

The conversation will be held in Norwegian.
