Life, Literature and Betrayal – Betanien Hospital

How do people with psychotic disorders view the festival theme of betrayal? Through its project “Literature for Inclusion”, LitFestBergen allows people who do not usually have a voice on stage to give the audience an insight into what life is like for them. How does expressing themselves through literature and music help them to cope with mental illness?

Throughout the autumn of 2025, therapist and author Hilde Kvalvaag has been working on the theme of betrayal with groups of people with psychotic disorders at Betanien Hospital. Some of the participants from the writing and art groups will join Kvalvaag and music therapists at the festival to present the results of the project they have been working on.
