How is a Literary Prize Decided?

How do juries work in major literary prizes such as the Booker Prize or the Nobel Prize? Are juries influenced by political trends? And how important are prizes in determining which authors are invited to festivals and who gets interviewed in the media?

To discuss this, we have a panel consisting of people with extensive experience from jury work who also understand the significance of these prizes in other parts of the literary world: Fred Studemann, literary editor at the Financial Times, Daniel Medin, professor of literature, and Cristina de la Roche, global director of Hay Festivals. The discussion will be moderated by Kjersti Løken Stavrum, editor, author, and managing director of the Tinius Foundation.

In collaboration with the Financial Times.

This event will be held in English.
