Conversation: New Texts on Betrayal
In collaboration with the literary magazines Vinduet and Abismo, LitFestBergen has invited three authors to write essays on the festival’s theme of betrayal: British author Afua Hirsch writes about the consequences of being erased from history, culture, and the literary canon; Wanjiru Koinange from Kenya takes her debut novel, The Havoc of Choice, as a starting point to ask what it takes to heal a society after political betrayal; and Eduardo Halfon from Guatemala writes about betraying parts of his identity by distancing himself from it.
The three meet with Vinduet editor Priya Bains to discuss what betrayal means to them in life and writing, and how they arrived at the themes for the essays they have written.
The conversation will be held in English.
