Selma Lønning Aarø
Selma Lønning Aarø (b. 1972) was born in Stord and lives in Kråkerøy, near Fredrikstad.
She made her debut in 1995 with Den endelige historien [The Final Story], which won Cappelen’s debut award, and had her breakthrough with Vill ni åka mera? (2003), nominated for the Brage Prize. Her later publications include the critically acclaimed documentary novel Hennes løgnaktige ytre [Her Deceptive Exterior] (2016), about the author Anna Munch and Knut Hamsun, and Feliz Navidad (2024), which explores dementia and betrayal in close relationships. Aarø has also been a columnist for Dagbladet and Klassekampen and has edited several volumes of the debut authors anthology Signaler [Signals]. She is known for her humorous and self-deprecating style.
