Olaug Nilssen
Olaug Nilssen (b. 1977, Norway) is an author living in Bergen whose breakthrough came in 2005 with Få meg på, for faen [Get me on, for Fuck’s Sake].
She has subsequently written books in many genres and established herself as an important voice in debates on Norwegian literature and social affairs.
From 2008 to 2010, Nilssen was the head of the writing school Skrivekunstakademiet.
Tung tids tale [A Tale of Terrible Times] (2017), about being the mother of a severely disabled child, won her the Brage Prize and the New Norwegian Literature Prize.
Published in the autumn of 2020, Yt etter evne, få etter behov [The One Needful Thing] was nominated for the Brage Prize. She also won the Fritt Ord Award in 2021. Her latest novel, Uønska åtferd [Undesirable Conduct] (2023), is about a dysfunctional family.
