Jørgen Sejersted

Jørgen Sejersted (b. 1976, Norway) is professor of Nordic literature at the Department of Linguistic, Literary and Aesthetic Studies, University of Bergen.
His primary research interests concern older literature, especially the works of Ludvig Holberg and Henrik Wergeland. He focuses on literature from the early modern period (around 1700) and Scandinavian Romanticism.
He took over as chair of the Holberg Prize in 2023.
He has published a number of articles and books and has been co-editor of research anthologies on Ludvig Holberg. His book Nonkonformisten: Ludvig Holbergs skeive selvfremstilling [The Nonconformist: Ludvig Holberg’s Skewed Self-Portrayal] was published in 2025.
