Jan Henrik Swahn

Jan Henrik Swahn (b. 1959, Sweden) works as a novelist and translator of Greek, Danish, French, and Polish. His thirteenth and most recent novel is Vattenläkaren [The Water Doctor]. His twelfth novel, NEKOB, was recently published in Greece. Between 1997 and 1999, he was editor of Bonniers Litterära Magasin (BLM). Swahn made his debut as an author in 1986 with the novel Jag kan stoppa ett hav [I Can Stop a Sea]. For Pengarna [The Money], published in 1996, he was awarded the 1997 TCO Literature Prize. For Vandrarna [The Wanderers], published in 2001, he was awarded the Göteborgs-Posten Literature Prize. In 2024, he received the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences’s Translation Prize for his work on the Swedish edition of Olga Tokarczuk’s pastiche novel The Empusium: A Health Resort Horror Story.
