Hanne Østavik
Hanne Ørstavik (b. 1969, Norway) is an author, translator, and therapist. She has written 16 novels and her work has been translated into 18 languages. She is considered one of the most prolific Norwegian authors of her generation.
Østavik studied French, psychology and sociology at the University of Oslo and also attended the writers school Forfatterstudiet i Bø in 1993–94.
During her career she has won the Dobloug Prize, the Brage Prize, the Amalie Skram Prize, and the Gyldendal Prize. In 2019, Love, the English edition of her book Kjærlighet, and its translator Martin Aitken also won the PEN Translation Award.
