Eduardo Halfon

Eduardo Halfon (b. 1971, Guatemala) is a Spanish-Guatemalan author who is known for his autofictional novels and short stories.

He moved to the United States when he was ten years old and grew up there. Although he studied industrial engineering, he later became a literary professor in Guatemala.

In 2019 he won the International Latino Book Award for his novel Mourning, having already been a finalist for the award for his earlier work The Polish Boxer. He has also been the recipient of numerous other major awards, such as Guatemala’s Miguel Ángel Asturias National Prize in Literature and the French prix Roger Caillois. His current novel, Tarantula, won France’s prix Médicis étranger in 2024.
