Anne Katrine Bang

Anne Katrine Bang (b. 1966, Norway) is a professor of history at the University of Bergen and an author. She has a PhD in Arabian history.

She has written many non-fiction and academic books, including Rastløs, eit essay om å reise [Restless, an Essay on Travelling] (2005), and Zanzibar-Olsen. Norsk trelasthandel i Øst-Afrika 1895–1925 [Zanzibar-Olsen. The Norwegian Timber Trade in East Africa 1895–1925] (2008).

She debuted as a fiction author in 1997 with the novel Kunsten å unnslippe [The Art of Getting Away With It]. Since then she has published the novels Hold i virkeligheten [Grip on Reality] (2003) and Tid i taushet [Time in Silence] (2006).

Her latest book was published in 2024 and is entitled Zanzibari Muslim Moderns: Islamic Paths to Progress in the Interwar Period.
