Aina Basso
Aina Basso (b. 1979, Norway) is a Norwegian novelist and historian. She made her literary debut in 2008 with her novel Ingen må vite [No One Must Know]. She writes historical fiction featuring female protagonists set in the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries.
Basso is of Kven heritage on her father’s side. She obtained a Master in History and Archaeology from NTNU in 2003, and completed her Master in History at NTNU in 2005 with a thesis on incest in the 18th century. Basso worked as an archive consultant at the Asta Foundation in 2005–2006. She is currently a freelancer and has been a specialist consultant at the Oslo City Archives since 2006.
Her latest novel, Før det blir morgon [Before Morning Comes], was released in 2025.
