Afua Hirsch
Afua Hirsch (b. 1981, UK) is a filmmaker and bestselling author of four books, including the award-winning Brit(ish): On Race, Identity and Belonging (2018) and Decolonising My Body: A Radical Exploration of Rituals and Beauty (2023). She co-presented Samuel L. Jackson’s major TV series Enslaved in 2020, and the ongoing BBC series Africa Rising, which explores the art and culture of African countries. She is also co-host of the podcast Legacy, a global top 3 podcast exploring the legacy of key figures in history. Afua is the founder of Born In Me, a TV and film production company based in London and Los Angeles. A journalist for more than 20 years, she is a former Guardian correspondent, an associate editor at Vogue, and is a tenured professor of journalism at the University of Southern California.
