Who’s afraid of the white woman? – ticket to livestream
White western middle-class women have long provided the paradigm for feminism, argues Pakistani-American lawyer and author Rafia Zakaria. In her 2021 book Against White Feminism, she launches a powerful assault on what she regards as western feminism’s ties to patriarchal, racist and colonial structures. She maintains that a completely new feminism is required, in line with the tradition established by black intersectional authors such as Gayatri Spivak and Audre Lorde.
Zakaria meets gender research and literary scholar Kari Jegerstedt for a conversation on what it would take to create a new and inclusive feminism.
Zakaria will participate virtually and in real time from the USA.
The conversation will be in English.
