Grethe Fatima Syéd

Grethe Fatima Syéd (b 1968, Norway) is a literary scholar, author and translator.

After completing her PhD at the University of Bergen on the literary career of Olav Duun, she published Olav Duun. Kunsten, døden og kjærlighetens dikter in 2015. As a translator, she has produced Norwegian versions of works by several of the 20th century’s greatest Anglophone writers, including Seamus Heaney, Gertrude Stein and Henry James. 

Syéd also heads Torborg Nedreaas-Selskapet and has published a book of essays on this Norwegian author under the title En sommer med Nedreaas (2019). Her literary debut came in 2020 with the novel Eventyr for voksne.
