Adania Shibli

Adania Shibli (b 1974, Palestine) is an author, essayist, professor and dramatist who lives in Jerusalem and Berlin. 

She has a PhD in media and cultural studies from the University of East London, and her research interests include the visual representation of 9/11 and the war on terror. Her writings include novels, plays, short stories, essays and research articles. She has received a number of prizes in her homeland and been listed among the Beirut39 – 39 Arab authors below the age of 40.

Shibli is now topical with the novel Minor Detail, set in 1949 in the wake of the first Arab-Israeli war. It was longlisted for the International Booker Prize in 2021 and shortlisted for the National Book Award for Translated Literature in 2020.
