Criminals or Lifeguards?
Is there a truth to the biggest migration of our time? Every day, refugees and other migrants are smuggled across some of the world's most dangerous borders. What is it that makes millions of people put their own lives and the lives of their children in the hands of human traffickers in order to be transported across snowy mountains, scorching deserts and open seas? And who are the traffickers who make these journeys possible?
For more than twenty years, Kristina Quintano has followed traffickers in and around the Mediterranean. With her book Smugler eller grenselos (Traffickers or border angels). Inside the greatest migration of our time, she draws parallels between today's traffickers and the borderless of the past.
Kristina Quintano meets journalist and author Jan H. Landro for a conversation.
The conversation is in Norwegian.
