Rana Issa

Rana Issa (b. 1976, Lebanon) is a writer and academic based in Oslo. Her work centres on “translations” and their related histories, theories, and practices. Issa’s passion is finding the balance between humanism, activism, and academic curiosity. She writes in various genres and languages and has been an important figure in multiple areas of the arts and cultural sector.

Issa is the former editor of Rusted Radishes and is the artistic director of Masahat.no.

Her book The Modern Arabic Bible, which examines modern Arabic translations, was published in 2023. Rana Issa also contributes to the Norwegian public discourse with articles in the Norwegian newspapers Klassekampen and Billedkunst.
