Claire-Louise Bennett (b UK) is an English author resident in Galway, Ireland, where she has also studied and worked with theatre.

Her short stories have been published in such publications as The Irish Times and The Moth, and she received the White Review Short Story Prize in 2013. Bennett’s first novel Dam was shortlisted for the Dylan Thomas Prize in 2016. She is now topical with Checkout 19. Bennett is distinctive and surprising both in her language and narrative, and writes a prose full of fantasy, realism and experience of life.
