Øivind Hånes

Øivind Hånes (b 1960, Norway) is resident in Cologne, Germany, and an active author, musician and composer. He is a qualified music teacher and has broad work and career experience as a teacher, writer, editor and record producer.

His literary debut came in 1991 with the novel Som vil deg isbre for isbre. He has also written a number of books on food and wine. His books have been translated into German, Spanish, Dutch, Russian and Lithuanian. The novel Pirolene i Benidorm (2005) earned him a nomination for the Nordic Council Literature Prize. Hånes is on the board of Norwegian PEN and the committee for imprisoned authors.
