Hunt for Literary Gold

A climate competition that is a ground-breaking collaboration between LitFestBergen, UiB and Rafto.
Bergen International Literary Festival, Bjerknes Centre for Climate Research and The Rafto Foundation for Human Rights together have announced a competition for poetry and essays from youth from all over the world. Entries from the competition will be used for the research project «Climate Narratives».
– The goal is to discover new literary gold, says Teresa Grøtan, director of the Bergen International Literary Festival.
The winners will be announced during LitFestBergen in February 2024, and there will be several more events during the festival. A book of essays, poetry and climate art will be released during the course of 2024.
– LitFestBergen also announced a writing competition for the youth in 2020 and then received 550 entries from over 90 different countries. It was beyond all expectations. With the fantastic network and partners, we have this time, there is good reason to have high expectations, says Grøtan.
The jury consists of prize-winning poets, authors and researchers from Fiji, Nigeria, India, USA and Norway.
