Saskia Vogel

Saskia Vogel (b 1981, USA) is a Berlin-based writer and translator whose debut novel was published in four languages in 2019.

She has translated from both Swedish and German. Notably, her English translation of Lina Wolff’s The Polyglot Lovers won an English PEN Translates award, while her translation of Karolina Ramqvist’s The White City was shortlisted for the Petrona Award.

Her own debut, Permission, was described by the Observer as a “quietly subversive … story about grief, loneliness and sadomasochism”. It has been translated into Spanish, Italian and Swedish, and has already been optioned for television.

Her previous roles include global publicist for Granta magazine and co-organiser of Viva Erotica, an annual film festival in Helsinki which explores the art, history and culture of sex on film.

A gleaming new talent.
