Hedley Twidle
Hedley Twidle (b 1980, South Africa) is a writer, lecturer and researcher based at the University of Cape Town.
He has been a regular contributor to international publications such as the Financial Times, the New Statesman and the Sunday Times, and won the inaugural Bodley Head/ Financial Times Essay Competition with a piece entitled "Getting Past Coetzee".
Experiments with Truth (2019) is the first book-length study of non-fiction in South African literature. It interrogates the role played by the recent “outpouring of life-writing and narrative non-fiction” in South Africa’s continuing political and social transition, with Twidle’s characteristic inclination to get under the country’s skin.
