Morten Traavik

Morten Traavik (b 1971, Norway) is a director and artist based in Oslo and Stockholm.

His real breakthrough occurred with the Miss Landmine beauty contests (Angola, 2008, and Cambodia, 2009). These became the first in a series of groundbreaking and controversial art projects.

Djevelen er en fallen engel (2013) was Traavik’s first book. He published Forræderens guide til Nord-Korea in 2018, which brings the reader close to the lives of contemporary North Koreans and provides an introduction to the “world’s most closed country”. It also presents other Norwegians who have forged close ties with North Korea.

Traavik won the 2016-17 Norwegian Theatre Critics award for the theatre project Århundrets rettsak.
