Linnea Axelsson

Linnea Axelsson (b 1980, Sweden) is an author who made her literary debut with Tvillingsmycket (2010).

In 2018, she published the epic poem Ædnan, which follows two Sami families over three generations. Through these characters, Axelsson depicts the modern history of the Sami from the early 20th century to the present. Ædnan is an old northern Sami word meaning land and soil.

She won the August Prize 2018 and the author’s prize from the Studieförbundet Vuxenskolans adult education association for this work. Axelsson defended her PhD in art history with a thesis on Louise Bourgeois and Rachel Whiteread in 2009.
