Gunnar Wærness

Gunnar Wærness (b 1971, Norway) is an author, translator and cabaret artiste. He made his literary debut in 1999 with the poetry collection Kongesplint, which won the Tarjei Vesaas first book award. He has since published the collections Takk (2002), Hverandres (2006), Bli verden (2007), Tungen og tåren (2013) and more recently Venn med alle (2018).

With Pedro Carmona-Alvarez, he edited the anthology Verden finnes ikke på kartet in 2010, which won the Critics’ Prize for best translation in the same year. He and Henrik Skotte form the performance duo Brødet og Eselet.
